A complete game five hit shutout by Hawks’ starting pitcher Spencer Hanson kept Woodward-Granger’s baseball team (15-0, 8-0) undefeated.


In six innings of work, Hanson spent Monday afternoon at Des Moines recording out after out and shutting down the opposition’s chances.


He struck out four, allowed five hits with zero walks in a 10-0 win versus West Central Conference rivals where the Des Moines Christian Lions (9-5, 5-2)


The Hawks’ offense gave their starting pitcher a lot of room to work with when they scored runs in four of the six innings played.


The opened up the game with a run in the first, two in the second and four more in the fourth for a commanding 7-0 lead.


After a scoreless fifth inning the Hawks added three more runs, which ended the game an inning earlier than scheduled.


For the third game in the past week, Brady Aunspach, catcher, led the Hawks in hits with four. He finished with a run scored, a double and an RBI.


Reese Jamison, Hawks’ shortstop, was second on the team in hits with two. He recorded two RBIs, two stolen bases, and a run scored. Matt Rhodes, Hawks’ third baseman led everyone with three RBIs.


Offensively, the Hawks tallied 12 hits on 24 at bats, three doubles, six stolen bases, and drew five walks.
