A lone Perry Bluejay will make his rounds at this week’s golf district tournament at the Spencer Country Club in Iowa.

Last Friday Noah Wilkening, Perry senior, turned in a district qualifying 18-hole round of 76. According to Nick Field, Perry’s head coach, Wilkening’s sixth place finish was just enough for districts.

“With the new individual qualifying change Noah qualifies for districts,” Field said.

At the Briggs Wood Golf Club Wilkening began his front nine approach with two straight pars. He then bogeyed before shooting three pars and a birdie.

After his bogey in the eighth he finished the front nine with a par that gave him a one over par at 37.

He shot a double bogey in his first stint on the back nine. After two straight pars he he bogeyed hole 13 and then added another two pars.

Wilkening capped off the final three holes of the tournament with two bogeys and a par for a score of 39.

Other Perry participants were Dan McCarty (91) Tanner Duffy (95) Luke Rathje (100), Connor Nielsen (105) and Gabe Ridnour (117).

Host Webster City’s 290 earned them the top spot. In second was Gilbert’s 316 and Nevada’s 319 placed them third.

In fourth was Boone with a 332, Perry placed fifth with a 362 followed by Iowa Falls-Alden with a 363. Ballard’s 365 placed them seventh with North Polk in last place with a 383.
