After suffering back-to-back losses for the first time this season, the Jayettes’ soccer team (9-3, 6-1) bounced back with an impressive 8-0 win versus conference foe the Carroll Tigers (1-10, 0-6).
At Carroll on Thursday evening the Perry’s offensive prowess dictated the offensive output while the defense kept the host from any scoring opportunities.
For 80 minutes the Jayettes never let up putting up a scoring clinic to a tune of eight goals to the Tigers’ zero.
Perry opened up the first half with four unanswered goals. After that the team played keep away until the end of the first half, according to Gilmar Guerra, Jayette head coach.
When play resumed the Jayettes’ mounted another four goal attack led by Natalie Martinez and Jaqueline Guardado who both earned the hat trick. Sydney Guerra added the team’s other two scores.
It was the Jayettes’ sixth shutout of the season and the first since April 24, when they defeated the Des Moines Christian Lions 2-0.
Perry is back in action on Tuesday May 16, when they travel to Newton to take on the Cardinals (7-3). Two days later they hit the road against the North Polk Comets.
“The next two games should be good,” Guerra said. “We are expecting good results in one of the two games.”
