After almost three weeks of winning soccer the Jayettes (8-2) suffered a close 2-1 loss at the hands of the Gilbert Tigers (8-2).
At Gilbert on Thursday, May 4 Perry’s five-game winning streak was snapped as the team couldn’t close the gap against their non-conference opponent.
The loss was the first one since April 15 and only the second one score loss this season.
Molly Lutmer, Perry freshman, recorded the team’s only goal from fellow freshman Magley Orellana’s assist. Lutmer finished the contest with two points.
The Jayettes had two players sharing goalie duties. Salena Garcia, Perry junior, played the majority of the game at 68 minutes. She converted 10 of 11 save opportunities.
Carly Anderson, sophomore, played the rest of the 19 minutes where she was 4 of 5 in saves giving up the go ahead Tigers’ score.
This Tuesday the Jayettes hope to commence a new winning streak when they host Raccoon River Conference first place team the undefeated Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers.
