At this season’s West Central Activities Conference (WCAC) Meet, the Woodward-Granger female golfers finished sixth out of seven places with a combined 18-hole round of 494.


Tuesday’s meet, hosted by Van Meter at the Lakeview Country Club, had the teams vying for the top spot.


It was the Ogden Bulldogs placing first with a score of 415. The Des Moines Christian Lions came in second with a 455 followed by host Van Meter with a 469.


Eleven strokes back was the Panorama Panthers with a 478, the Earlham Cardinals’ 493 placed fifth and the Wildcats of West Central Valley’s 524 finished seventh.


Medalist winner Molly Carey of Van Meter finished with a score of 93, which was 17 strokes better than W-G’s top performer Cierra DeHoet.


DeHoet’s 110 led the Hawks’ squad as she finished the front nine with a 57 and was four shaved four strokes at the back nine with a 53.


She began the contest with eight double bogeys, six triple bogeys, and a four over par before finishing with a two bogeys and a pa.


Teammates Ashland James finished second on the team with a 125. The Mescher sisters, Aubrey and Paige shot a 126 and 133.


The team hit the links again this Friday when they along with the boys’ team head to Ogden for a Co-Ed meet.
