Another game and another multiple goal afternoon for Perry’s Jesus Rodriguez helped the Bluejays (8-3) garnish their fifth straight win.

For the second straight game and third in the past five, Rodriguez has recorded multi-score games, a feat that has him leading the Raccoon River Conference in goals with 13.

On April 27, at Indianola (3-6), the Bluejays, behind Rodriguez’s two goals, shutout the host Indians in a 3-0 victory.

Gary Overla, Perry’s head coach, was pleased with his team’s performance but remains concerned with some of his team’s mental mistakes.

“(We) Played pretty well but we were caught offside way too many times tonight,” he said. “We need to figure that out before our next opponent realizes how vulnerable we are. I will say that there were a handful of times we were not actually offside, but once you get into the habit of being offside, the referee gets into the habit of calling you offside, so we need to work on that.”

Perry’s defense posted their second consecutive shutout which now stands at four during this five game stretch.

Anthony Aragon, Bluejay goalie, played 70 solid minutes making sure the Indians didn’t get close to a score. Teammate Jehovany Rivera played the final 10 minutes.

Up next the Bluejays play at home this Tuesday when they welcome the Ballard Bombers.
