Two more Waukee athletes recently signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the next level. It brings the total number of scholarship athletes, from the Waukee Class of 2017, at the DI, DII, NAIA and JUCO levels to 22.
Drew Johnson signed to play basketball at Grandview University in Des Moines. A three year varsity contributor, Johnson started every game his junior and senior year. He led Waukee in scoring averaging 14.7 points per game this past season. Johnson is a three sport athlete that also earned First Team All District honors as a quarterback in football and was an Elite All State track athlete his junior year.
Zach Linder will swim at Lindenwood University in St. Charles Missouri next year. Linder won the 100 and 200 yard freestyles at the 2017 Boys State Swim meet. His individual victories and two relay performances helped lead Waukee to its second consecutive state swim championship. Linder earned Elite All State and All American honors in both his junior and senior swim seasons.
