At the Woodward Golf and Country Club both the Woodward-Granger (W-G) boys’ and girls’ golf teams recorded second place finishes.

With a round of 177 the Hawks’ boys finished 10 strokes behind first place winners the Des Moines Lions who shot a 167. Fellow visitors the Ogden Bulldogs came in third with a 188.

In the girls competition, it was the Bulldogs who claimed the top spot with a 187. Both the Hawks and Lions finished tied for second with a round of 226.

W-G’s Austin Ober and Nick Brummond recorded identical scores of 40. Ober tallied a birdie, and three pars while his teammate finished with two birdies and three pars.

On the girls’ side, Hawks Ashland James led her team with a round of 52. Aubrey Mescher finished the day just three strokes back with a 55.

Cierra DeHoet and Aubrey’s sister Paige rounded out the final two scores. DeHoet shot a 57 and Paige ended her day with a 62.

The Hawks’ Hunter Pierce finished third for the boys’ squad with a 47 and Max Helbling’s 50 was the team’s remaining score. Another W-G participant was Brand Aunspach who shot a 56.

Both teams have a couple of competition free days before the boys travel to Perry on April 22, and the girls are at Panorama on April 24.
