The Woodward-Granger Hawks athletes and club participants gave their fans a reason to celebrate.
Over twenty student-athletes and club members were recognized for a number of awards for Spring athletics and activities.
Three Hawks girls’ basketball players earned WCAC Girls’ Basketball All-Conference honors. Mary Hansen, senior, was named to the first team with teammates Riley Jamison, senior, and Kayley Dresback, sophomore, receiving honorable mention nods.
For the boys, Bryce Achenbach, freshman, was named to the second team of the WCAC Boys’ Basketball All-Conference.
Honorable mention recognition went to Bodie Harrison, senior, Marcus McConahay, senior and Reese Jamison, freshman.
In the state wrestling sector, Cody Fisher, freshman, finished in second place in the 195-pound bracket. Tanner Vermaas, senior, recorded sixth place in the 182-pound circuit. Austin Scharlau, junior, was a state qualifier at 152 pounds.
Congratulations are in order for the 12 students who qualified for state speech. W-G had six qualify in two events: Elizabeth Weyers, Paige Harlan, Erin Kamp, Kayla Crouse, Mackenzie Major, and Briley Bermel.
The next six students will compete in one event: Cami Cochran, Bre Blair, Alexis Bixler, Emma Drake, Juliette Sosa-Valle, and Justin Wheeler.
