Did You Know… what local Perry icons are shown in this photo? The building shown is the Peoples Bank, located on the northeast corner of Second and Willis. This building was destroyed in a fire in 1945. The first Perry icon shown was the clock. The clock was located on the Peoples Bank until the bank closed in the Great Depression. Following the closure, the clock was moved west across the street to the First National Bank building, where it is located today. The second icon is the popcorn stand. The popcorn stand called that corner home for many years until it was moved to Forest Park Museum. Growing up in Perry, I have seen many changes. What is nice for me, is that while things in our community may have moved, they still remain part of our town.
