In addition to parking in front of the TV or computer for hours during free time, many people sit for long stretches at work. Dr. Levine suggests breaking up this sitting by trying to stand when possible. Stand up while on a phone call. Go for a walk with a co-worker during breaks. If possible, put your computer on a counter or other high surface so you can stand while working. If you drive for a living, or travel for your job, take every opportunity to stretch and walk.
