Dear Editor:

I always enjoy the “Did You Know” part of The Chief. Each time I look at it, it brings back memories of my years I lived in Perry.

The one on Dogs and Suds, he mentioned he liked the Texas Twin Burger. The Texas Burger was around 1965 and it was before the Big Mac. It was also better than the Big Mac.

Come this August, it has been 40 years since I have lived in Perry. It sure is great to have the “Did You Know” in the paper each week. It brings back a lot of memories of places not around anymore.

There is one thing I really enjoy here in Claremore, Okla. that most of the people in Perry miss and that is the trains. We have between 5-10 a day and on some days they are 25 to 45 minutes apart.

As a kid I always enjoyed going to the train depot and talking to the travelers and conductors. At times, the chefs in the dining car would give me and my brother a sample of what he was making.

There are a lot of stories I can share with my days and years in Perry.

One I miss the most is the rhubarb.

Take care. May God bless.
