Ruth Evelyn Lapp age 88, of Perry died on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Friday June 7, 2013 from 3-8 p.m. with family present 6-8 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Ruth Evelyn Lapp was born on September 9, 1924 at Earlham, IA to William J. and Sydna May (Edgington) Petty. When she was 5 years old her family moved to De Soto, IA. She attended school in De Soto through her junior year when she moved to Perry, IA and graduated from Perry Community High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Leland Eugene Lapp on June 8, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Perry. Ruth worked for 5 years prior to her marriage as a cashier at Penny’s in Perry, IA, then at Woodward State Hospital in Woodward, IA for 19 years until 1986. Ruth was a member of the Perry Bible Church. Ruth enjoyed life and always seemed to keep very busy. After retiring Ruth and Leland took their first trip to Alaska and continued to enjoy travelling together. She will also be remembered for her gift of hospitality and sharing her home with those in need. Another hobby was collecting Fostoria dishes and special family heirlooms.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sydna Petty, husband, Leland Eugene Lapp, 2 sisters, Helen (Bob) Jordan and Mildred (Konrad) Dvorak, and a brother-in-law Wendell Wright.

Survivors include her children, Ronald Lapp of Los Angeles, CA, LaVonne (Don) Renshaw of Glenwood, IA, LeAnn (Randy) Paulsen of Boone, IA, and Donald Lapp of Chicago, IL, grandchildren, Krista Paulsen, Brendon and Leah Renshaw, brother, Robert (Marjorie) Petty, sisters, Mabel Wright of Lakeland, FL, Sydna "Alberta" Hansen of Perry, IA and many special nieces and nephews.
