Jack Fierz, 71, of Perry died on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 11 at 9:30 a.m. at the Perry Lutheran Home. Visitation will be prior to the service at the Perry Lutheran Home.

Burial will be in the West Lawn Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha, Neb.

Memorials in Jack’s name may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home.

Jack Morrison Fierz was born on Nov. 8, 1942, at Brownwood, Texas, to Jack Morrison and Jean Patricia Fierz.

Jack enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard, where he was a cook.

He moved to Omaha in 1971 and worked at the University of Nebraska Medical Center as a janitor, the Pella Lutheran Church, the Crossroads Mall and the Village Inn restaurant.

Jack moved to Des Moines in 1999 and worked for the Village Inn and Ryan’s Steakhouse.

In April of 2005 he moved to the Perry Lutheran Home, and he enjoyed attending community events in Perry.

Jack attended the Pella Lutheran Church in Omaha, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran in Des Moines and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Perry.

He was a member of the AMVETS in Des Moines.

Survivors include his sister, Jane Patricia Wolcott, of West Des Moines, an uncle, Don Fear, of Ottumwa and many cousins.
