Charles Biggart, 87, of Perry died Wednesday, Dec. 25 at his home in Perry.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 29 from 1-7 p.m., with family present from 3-5 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be given to family and may be left at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent

Charles Frederick Biggart was born on Dec. 8, 1926, at Des Moines to Dwight and Florence Marie (Rector) Biggart. He graduated from Valley Junction High School. Following graduation he served in the United States Navy.

He was united marriage to Elizabeth Susan Shank on January 26, 1959, at Omaha, Neb. Charles worked for Uptown Electric in Des Moines and then at Oscar Mayer, which later became IBP. After his retirement from IBP, he worked for Gasche Electric.

Charles enjoyed watching Hawkeye football and basketball, attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, taking vacations, especially to Disney Land, and he was always there when someone needed help.

He greatly loved being a father and grandfather.

Charles was preceded in death by parents, Dwight and Florence Biggart, and two sisters, Helen (Bob) George and Gloria (Chuck) Eoriatti.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Biggart, of Perry, three sons, James (Tammi) Biggart of Scranton, Charles (Joni) Biggart of Des Moines and Douglas (Terri) Biggart of Phoenix, Ariz., a daughter, Shelly (Gary) Thompson of Perry, 12 grandchildren, Jamie, Jon, Stacy, Justin, Michaela, Mackenzie, Shannon, Mark, Christopher, Sean, Shanon and Alex, five great grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Ann Witter of Colorado Springs, Colo.
