Barbara Nevitt, 63, of Perry died on Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Crossroads Church in Perry. Pastor Rick Gates will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 29 from 1-8 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home.

Memorials are directed to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at the funeral home.

Barbara Jean Nevitt was born on June 30, 1950 in Des Moines to Welby M. and Phyllis Jean (Westerlund) Apple. She attended Hillis Elementary School and graduated from Earlham High School.

She also attended Patricia Steven Airline Training College in Chicago. Then she was hired by American Fliers Airline before graduating.

She was united in marriage to Robert Dean Nevitt on April 25. 1970.

Barb held her career in real estate for 30 years. She began at Heenan Realty and then eventually bought the business and managed it for 10 years.

Barb was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church in Perry.

She enjoyed gardening, reading and especially watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Nevitt of Perry, son, Robert "Rob" Nevitt of Perry, daughter, Heather (Adam) VanLin of Ankeny, three brothers, Larry (Joan) Apple of Maryville, Mo., Kirk (Jan) Apple of Earlham and Bill (Sue) Apple of Des Moines, grandchildren, Jordan, Kyle and Kacy Nevitt and Irish Apple VanLin, one aunt, Marne Harris, and a step-sister, Darcey Paulin.
