Funeral services for Clarice Ross will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Perry. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday. Clarice passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Rowley Masonic Home.
Clarice Helen Moody was born March 17, 1912 in Perry, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Lonnie (Jenner) Moody. She graduated from Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Iowa in 1930. Clarice attended two years of college at the University of Northern Iowa and two years at Drake University.
Clarice married George Vail Ross on July 18, 1943 at the Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa. They moved to Perry in 1944. She taught school in Woodward, Iowa for two years and taught 18 years in the Perry Public School system.
Clarice was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women (Sarah Circle), Delta kappa Gamma International and Perry Women’s Club.
Survivors include her son Gary Ross of Perry, IA; two granddaughters Kristin (Mike) Ross of Mahomet, IL, Kelly (Mike) Harrity of Parker, CO; four step- grandchildren Liza (Orlando) Thomas of Champaign, IL, Jeff (Bridget) Johnson of Pearlington, MS, Brad (Shelly) Johnson of Johnston IA, David Johnson of Kansas City, MO; five great grandchildren and eight step- great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Preceding Clarice in death were her parents, husband on May 15, 1967, one brother Chester Moody, two sisters Hazel Moody and Viola Morgan; three step-daughters Marjorie Coyne, Ruth Porter, Marian Gardiner and her daughter-in-law Liz Ross on August 28, 2017.
Memorials in Clarice’s name will be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Delta Kappa Gamma International. They may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net
