Mary Lucille (Lowe) Dreller, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and caregivers on, Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation with family will be at Iles Funeral Home – Westover Chapel, Sunday, Jan. 28 from 3-5 p.m.
Mary was born July 13, 1928, in Letts, Iowa to Berton Leroy and Rosa May (Cassabaum) Lowe. She married her beloved husband, Richard John Dreller, July 1, 1950, who preceded her in death.
Mary is survived by her three daughters and three sons, Shirley Dreller, Nancy (Brian) Todd, Jean (Monty) Main, Stephen (Yasmin) Dreller, Michael (Amy) Dreller and John (Elizabeth) Dreller and eight grandchildren; Jon Todd, Katharine Dreller, David Dreller, Eric Main, Kristina Dreller, Derek Dreller, Claire Dreller and Thomas Dreller. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gerald Berton Lowe and sister Alice Louise Pantel.
Mary spent her youth in Letts, Iowa on the Lowe family farm before moving to Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from the American Institute of Commerce and worked at Oscar Mayer & Co. in Davenport, where she met her husband Richard. Mary and Richard subsequently lived in Madison, Wisc., Beardstown, Illinois and Perry, Iowa as they raised their family and followed Richard’s career with Oscar Mayer. They retired to Daphne, Alabama in 1990 and enjoyed many years of southern hospitality and mild winters. Mary relocated to Des Moines in 2013 to be near family members. She resided at Illahee Hills Senior Center in Urbandale, Iowa where she enjoyed great friendships with the staff and fellow residents. Mary will be best remembered by her family as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
