Lela Grubbs, age 92 of Des Moines and formerly of Redfield, passed away on Monday May 1, 2017 at the Unity Point Health Methodist in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday May 6, 2017, prior to the service at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Yale, Iowa. Lela Marie Grubbs was born on Dec. 14, 1924 at Adel, Iowa to Vernon Lloyd and Ruth Irene (Brooker) Brubaker. She attended school at Adel, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1942. She was united in marriage to Russell Grubbs at her parents’ home on Sept. 15, 1945. She did Acetylene Torch welding at Solar Aircraft during World War II.

She was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church, Dawson, Iowa. She enjoyed reading, doing cross word puzzles, cooking and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Grubbs, parents, Vernon and Irene Brubaker, a brother, Bill Brubaker and a sister, Vera Flinn.

She is survived by her son, Warren (Debbie) Grubbs, Des Moines, Iowa, grandson, Ryan (Carrie) Grubbs, Guthrie, Okla., great grandchildren, Jailynn Aase and Kennedy and Cameron Grubbs, sister, Mary Flinn, Cumming, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
