Funeral Services for Buck Modlin, 86 of rural Bouton, Iowa will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Murdock Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Burrow of the First United Methodist Church. Special music selected for the service is “He Leadeth Me,” “On Eagles Wings” and “Happy Trails.” Pallbearers are Andy Modlin, Nick Blair, Chris Mars, Terry Blair, Nick Kunnert, Nathan Fouch and honorary pallbearer Kelly Fouch. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 with the family receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. at Murdock Funeral Home. Buck passed away Monday March 27, 2017 at his home in rural Bouton.

Lester Keith Modlin was born Jan 27, 1931 in Rural Minburn, Iowa the son of Earl B. and Helen K. (Kelley) Modlin. Buck was a lifelong resident and farmer of the Minburn, Perry and Bouton area. He graduated from Perry High School and married the love of his life, Lois A. Peters, on Oct. 21, 1951 in Perry, Iowa. They were married for over 63 years at the time of her death on Dec. 2, 2014. Buck was active in the Army National Guard from October of 1950 until his honorable discharge on Oct. 1, 1953.

In earlier years, Buck had been an active member of the Perry Golf and Country Club He was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Perry Elks Lodge No. 407 and a member of the Perry Masonic Lodge No. 299. Buck loved family and friend gatherings with good food and fellowship. He was a great story teller and was usually involved himself in some of the best stories told.

Survivors include his son David Modlin of Bouton, Iowa; two daughters Karen (Jerry) Fouch of Tampa, Fla.; Jane (Randy) Knudtson of West Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren Abbey Modlin, Andy Modlin, Lisa Blair, Kelly Fouch, Zoe Mars, Nathan Fouch and Kristen Kunnert and several great grandchildren.

Preceding Buck in death were his parents, his wife, four brothers Dave Modlin, George Modlin, Bob Modlin, Jack Modlin, one grandson Jeff Knudtson and a daughter in law Susan Modlin.
