Kay L. Lutz, age 60, wife of Patrick J. Lutz, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was born on January 16, 1957 to her parents Kenneth Thacker and Carolyn (Pharoah) Thacker in Boone, Iowa.


On July 14, 1973, she married Patrick Lutz in Woodward, Iowa. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Fort Carson, Colorado in 1975. They lived in Colorado for about two years. Kay moved to Perry, Iowa while Patrick was deployed to Europe for a year. They then lived in Perry until 1985, when they moved to Panora. Kay worked in the nursing and home health care field for about 20 years.


Kay enjoyed arts, crafts, making her own cards, collecting carnival glass, camping, baking, face timing with the grandchildren, and spending time with them doing crafts.


She is survived by her husband, Patrick J. Lutz of Panora; daughters, Lila Lutz of Panora; Jeanne (Brian) Sorensen of Churdan; and Patricia (Brian) Small of Panora. Eight grandchildren, Levi, Maddelyn, & Laicey Richey; Mason & Carter Sorensen; Alyssa, Kaylin, & Miyah Small. Brothers, Kris Henning of Ogden; Keith Thacker of Boxholm; and Kurt Thacker of Ogden. She was preceded in death by her parents.


Funeral were a held at 7 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Twigg Funeral Home, Panora. Visitation was prior to the services from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation took place following the services and burial of her cremains will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter at a later date.
