Eric John Bohling, son of Henry John Bohling and Mildred Imogene King Bohling, was born July 9, 1957 in Greenfield, Iowa and died Feb. 25, 2017 at his home in Dawson, Iowa. He was 59 years, 7 Months and 16 Days old. Eric’s funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, Iowa, Mr. Terry Carmichael of Heartland Church of Christ Perry, Iowa conducted the service, honorary bearers were Trevor Spratt, Jason Lomax, Jammie Benshoof and Phil Dvorak. The recorded music for the service was “Grandpa Told Me So,” “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Out Skirts of Heaven.”


Eric attended school at Lincoln Tech in Des Moines and graduated Woodward High School. Eric attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny for truck driving courses. He worked in his chosen field in transportation, as a truck driver for Jacobson Trucking and as a mechanic for Sara Lee Bakery, to name a few. Eric was also a former member of the Woodward Fire Dept.


Eric was married to Ronda Jean Pittman Lomax on June 15, 1996. They made their home in Woodward, later moving to Dawson in May of 2016. Eric was disabled in a work injury in 2000. In better days, he loved to golf and was very good at it. Fishing was another pleasure, as well as going to flea markets, swap meets, car racing, especially drag racing, and tractor pulls. Eric was a NASCAR fan, and followed Eddy Hill as his favorite driver. He was a member of Heartland Church of Christ in Perry and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Lions Club in Woodward.


Eric was preceded in death by his father and father and mother-in-law Earl and Betty Pittman. Eric is survived by his wife Ronda of Dawson, Iowa; his mother Mildred Peters of Woodward, Iowa; son Jonathan Bohling of Radcliff, Iowa; step-son Jason Lomax (Jennifer Knight) of Perry, Iowa; brother Vernon Bohling of Minn.; sister-in-law Nancy Harker (Daryl) of Perry, Iowa; and brother-in-law Randy Pittman (Laurie) of Maple Grove, Minn.; other relatives and friends. Everyone was invited to a time of lunch and fellowship served by Heartland Church of Christ Ladies in the funeral home lounge immediately following the funeral service.
