Elaine Alberta McMichael, died Jan. 30, 2017 at the age of 92 years, 9 months, 4 days at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, First United Methodist Church, Perry, Iowa. Rev. Paul Burrow, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated and there was a tribute to Elaine by her son, Mark McMichael. Elaine’s honorary bearers were Edgar and Geneva Trost, Greg and Karen Trost, Pat and Kim Reding and Bill and Kay Bullock. Casket bearers were Brenton Allen, Sam McMichael, Fraser Harland, Bruce Gast, Brent Gast and Jeff Miller. The church organist Dennis Morgan played the organ, the congregation sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” Tracy Amano played the songs “In The Garden” and “How Great Thou Art.” The ushers were Joe Royer and Tom Gardiner. The United Methodist Women served lunch before everyone went to Violet Hill Cemetery for the burial.


Elaine was born to Carl Anderson and Luella Girard Anderson on April 26, 1924 near Bagley. She graduated from Bagley High in 1942 and attended American Institute of Business. She retired from Brenton Bank, Perry, in 1989 after 25 years of service.


Elaine and John Leonard McMichael were united in marriage on June 3, 1944. They moved to Perry in 1945 upon Leonard’s discharge from the Army Air Corps. She was a member of Perry United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Elaine and Leonard enjoyed traveling to many destinations during their 65 years together.


Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Wilma. Survived by children: Paula (Randall) Allen of Perry and Mark (Sheri) McMichael of Des Moines; grandchildren: Brenton (Kelli) Allen, Christine Allen (Fraser) Harland, Sam McMichael and sister Geneva (Edgar) Trost, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
