Pastor Chris Tjapkes of First Baptist Church in Perry has announced that the well known Contemporary Christian Music artist Steve Green will be returning to Perry for a concert on Sunday, August 18 in the Perry Performing Arts Center. The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are only $10 if purchased in advance and $15 at the door. The son of missionary parents, Steve grew up in South America. He has been involved in the Christian Music Industry for 29 years, and has been honored with four Grammy nominations, 18 number 1 songs and seven Dove Awards, Christian music’s highest honor. His fans span the globe, allowing Green to boast record sales of more than three million worldwide.

"Perry is having quite the summer," Pastor Tjapkes remarked, "RAGBRAI, the Air Show and now this wonderful evening of Christian music and worship will make this summer a time that will be long remembered. This is a combined effort of four churches in town: First Baptist, Perry Bible Church, Crossroads Church and New Day Assembly. We had Steve come three years ago and are just thrilled to be able to bring him back now that we have the Performing Arts Center. This is going to be an incredible event."

A group of singers is being formed that will back up Mr. Green during the concert. Those vocally talented, and who can read music are invited to call First Baptist Church for details how to obtain music and the time of rehearsals.
