Jason Krueger and Connor Sackett recently took first place in the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Hands-on Automotive Skills Contest. The contest started in October with a written test taken by 300 students from 20 Iowa schools. From the written test, the top eight schools were invited to the hands-on finals. The team of Krueger and Sackett were tested in all eight areas of automotive skills: engine repair, engine performance, automatic and manual drivetrain, air conditioning, steering and suspension, brakes and electricity. They each won more than $2,000 in tools and a $1,000 scholarship to DMACC. They are students of Curt Cornelius, Perry High School Automotive Instructor.
