Ed Moss, chief executive officer of Stephens Media LLC, has named Paul Heidbreder as publisher of the Ames Tribune and its associated weekly newspapers, including the Perry Chief, Dallas County News, Northeast Dallas County Record and Grimes Today.
Heidbreder is an experienced newspaper manager. He owned a weekly newspaper in Blissfield, Mich., and was previously the publisher of the Daily Telegram in Adrian, Mich.
He also oversaw the operations of 10 GateHouse Media properties in Michigan, with a combined paid circulation of 63,577 and weekly distribution of 236,000.
His other industry experience included work for Lee Enterprises, Paxton Media Group, Booth Newspapers and Guy Gannett Communications.
"I am delighted to welcome Paul on board," Moss said. "He has had a wide variety of management positions with Midwestern newspapers and will help the Tribune renew its commitment to the central Iowa region."
Heidbreder, 47, attended Western Michigan University. He is married with two children, one attending college in Michigan and the other in high school.

Pat Snyder is the local publisher of the Perry Chief and the other Dallas County newspapers, while Heidbreder oversees all the Iowa papers from Ames.
Heidbreder replaces Geoff Schumacher, publisher of Stephens Media Iowa since 2010, who has taken a job as creative director of a Las Vegas museum.
