Iowa’s senior US Senator will hold meetings in 11 Iowa towns during the week of January 20 as part of his annual 99-county tour. Charles Grassley began his 2014 tour Jan. 3 in Floyd and Chickasaw counties.
Grassley will meet with local citizens in Clarksville, Ackley, Conrad, Waverly, Independence, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Ankeny, Boone, Nevada and State Center on Jan. 20-24.
"Representative government is a two-way street," Grassley said. "I appreciate the opportunity to go directly to Iowans in their workplaces and where they’re gathered for civic group meetings for question and answer sessions. I also enjoy meeting with high school students as they study current affairs and government."
Grassley will answer local reporters’ questions for 15 minutes after each meeting.
In addition to the county meetings, on Jan. 22 Grassley will give a speech on Jan. 22 at the University of Northern Iowa on whistleblowing and government accountability. On Jan. 23 he will speak in Des Moines at "Hearing in the Heartland: Supporting the Renewable Fuels Standard," hosted by Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds.
