At 6:30 pm on the 19th of November the Perry Fire Department was called out by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office for a Tractor fire in a field located at 305th Street and County Road P54 (Clover Ave.) in Boone County. Prior to our arrival on scene we were advised by the Sheriff’s Deputy who was on scene that the fire had spread from the tractor to the stalk chopper it had been pulling and was now being wind driven across the farm field as well. As a precautionary measure we requested that Rippey Fire Dept. be called to assist with the spread of fire in the field. The tractor a 2013 New Holland model T - 8 with less than 200 hours of total use was a total loss and the Loftiness stalk chopper suffered substantial damage in the fire. The tractor and chopper were leased by Neese Incorporated out of Grand Jct., Iowa and being operated by a Jacob Eischeid Firefighters from Perry & Rippey were on the scene for roughly 75 minutes extinguishing the blaze. Total cost of damage was estimated at nearly $350,000.00
