Area high schools students have had the opportunity to participate in the Good Citizen program and Scholarship Contest Award, which is given to one graduating senior by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, (NSDAR).
The local DeShon Chapter of the DAR contacted the counselors at six area high schools and explained the process for completing the requirements for the award. The qualities that students are recognized for include leadership, dependability, service and patriotism.
Three area students were recently recognized with the Good Citizen Award at a DeShon Chapter DAR meeting. They were Paige Myers from Boone, Katlyn Buchman from Madrid, and Samantha Sweet from Perry. Each received a certificate, pin and monetary gift from the chapter.
