The Family Health and Wellness Center celebrated its recent opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at 403 1st Ave. in Perry. The owner, Dr. Aaron E. Stolz, DC, attended the five-year program at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport before practicing for 10 years as a US Army chiropractor at the military hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. A Preston, Iowa, native, Stolz is also a 25-year veteran of the National Guard, for which he flew helicopters. The ISU graduate and his wife, Kim, a nurse at the Iowa Clinic in Des Moines, are presently living with their son and his wife and grandchild in Johnston while they look for a home in the Perry area. "I’m a small-town guy myself," Stolz said at the ribbon cutting, "and I understand the importance of supporting a community. I know this clinic’s been here a while and seen some turnover, but we want people in Perry to know that we mean to be here consistently. We’re here for the long haul." Helping Stolz celebrate were, from left, Cathy Hoskinson and XXX of Raccoon Valley Bank, Jane Harmann of the Perry Chief, Lee Coons of Raccoon Valley Bikes, Stolz, Bob Wilson, Perry Area Chamber of Commerce director, Linda Schumacher of the Perry Chief, Marcus Carris of Carris Family Funeral Home, XXX of Raccoon Valley Bank and Non Nevitt of Nevitt Realty.
