HomeCare Services and the Dallas County Congregate Meals Program invites people 60 and older for their weekly meals. Meals are served promptly at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the McCreary Community Building.The cost for participants age 60 and older is on a sliding fee scale based on income with a minimum suggested contribution of $3. Those under the age of 60 must pay the full cost of $9.28 per meal.Reservations are requested at least 24 hours in advance; call 465-2300.
Bike Trail Permits
A permit is required by anyone 18 years and older to use the Raccoon River Valley Trail outside city limits. Permit envelopes are available at the trailheads and at the Dallas County Conservation Board office at Forest Park Museum, or mail a check to: Dallas County Conservation Board, 14581 K Ave., Perry, Iowa 50220. Daily permits are $2 per person; annual permits are $10 per calendar year. For more information call 465-3577.
Insect Zoo visits July 14 at Forest Park
On Sunday, July 14, at 1:30 p.m., the Iowa State University Insect Zoo will appear at Forest Park Museum. If you want to learn more about your favorite six legged friends, come see this terrific insect zoo. The Iowa State University Insect Zoo was established at Iowa State by world renowned entomologists. This is a rare opportunity to see these amazing creatures up close and have all your questions answered by the zookeeper. Reservations are required for this event. Minburn pie contest entries wanted
Entries are being sought for the Minburn July 4th Pie Baking Contest. The four categories are single crust adult; single crust High school and under: double crust adult and double crust high school and under. Entries should be delivered to Veterinary Medical Associates from 8 a.m. to noon July 4. Winners will be announced at the evening program, then auctioned. First-lace gets $100. Monetary prizes to be given totals $425.
Unclaimed Bike Sale Set
The City of Perry Unclaimed Bicycle and Property Sale will be Saturday, June 29th, 2013 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the parking lot area of the Perry Public Safety Building, 908 Willis Avenue.
This sale will include unclaimed bicycles and property as well as outdated or unused City of Perry inventory and equipment. Prices will be marked on all items.

Minburn’s Elmwood Cemetery needs help
The violent weather of Memorial Day 2013 bent the aluminum poles and destroyed most of the flags in Elmwood Cemetery near Minburn.
As a project, The Minburn Woman’s Club are seeking donations for replacement flags so that the Avenue of Flags can once again fly, particularly on Memorial Day 2014. Anyone who wants to donate may send donations to the Minburn Woman’s Club in care of Jan Shirley, 19001 Lexington Road, Minburn 50167.
