The Perry Police Department is investigating after graffiti was found outside of the Perry High School.
Police Chief Eric Vaughn said a report of graffiti was made around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. Officers responded and found a spray painted message stenciled with “Report Illegals 1-866-DHS-2ICE” outside of the high school main entrance.
Vaughn said officers photographed the scene. He added that the department is also looking at video from the high school to see if the suspects can be identified.
“Thankfully, in this community of Perry, that’s a very, very rare occurrence,” Superintendent Clark Wicks said.
He added that school maintenance staff covered the message last night. City workers helped to power wash the message off of the sidewalk.
“We’re now continuing to move ahead. It’s a small bump in the road,” Wicks said.
