8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Perry Hy-Vee.


Perry Hy-Vee is sponsoring a LifeServe mobile blood drive on Sept. 8. Support your community, donate a pint of blood and receive a free pint of Blue Bunny ice cream from Hy-Vee.

2. Free community picnic


5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 on the lawn at the entrance to NorthGate.


Crossroads Church invites its neighbors to enjoy a free picnic. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and a beverage will be served. A rain date is set for Sunday, Sept. 9. For more information, call 515-979-2154.


3. Behind the Scenes at Forest Park Museum


1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Forest Park Museum.


Have you ever wondered what is in the back room at a museum? Curator Pete Malmberg will give visitors a sneak peek behind the scenes, sharing some of the strangest objects in our collection. 4. Ice cream social


4-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Rippey United Methodist Church.


The Rippey United Methodist Church will be having ts semi-annual Ice Cream Social on Sept. 9. Come enjoy loose meat sandwiches, pie and of course, homemade ice cream.


5. Prairie Awakening


4-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Kuehn Conservation Area between Earlham and Redfield.


The theme of this year’s celebration is Elders and Trees. Concessions will be availble on site. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for seating. This event is free and no registration is rquired.
