The Adel Public Library hosts a group of women every week of the year as they make various quilts, pillow cases, and table clothes.
In exchange for the free use of space these quilters use, Adel Quilting hosts a quilt show every year on the third weekend of June. Anyone is welcome to come to this event and all proceeds from sales made at this event go to the library.
Library Director Paula James says she is continuously impressed by what the group of volunteers make every year.
“We have ladies from all over the area to come in and make these quilts,” James said. “There’s quilters from Adel, Dallas-Center-Grimes, and many other places.”
Adel Quilting Owner Jacque Johnson has said in the past that the quilt show offers a wide variety of quilted items including pillow cases, blankets, and other decorations.
James said these items make excellent gift ideas and people really enjoy looking at all the hard work these ladies put into their creations.
Although this year’s quilt show has already passed, Adel Quilting is open year-around and volunteers are always welcome to join the group of quilters at Adel Library every Thursday evening. To find out more about how you can get involved visit Adelpl.org or call 515-993-3512.
