Two-year-old Celeste Sandoval-Ramos, of Perry, died after a drowning accident at Big Creek State Park, a news release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said. The Sheriff’s Office released the name on June 20.


An earlier news release said Polk County Deputies, along with Polk City Officers, were dispatched around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 to the beach at Big Creek State Park for a possible drowning.


The release went on to say that Polk City Rescue was performing life-saving measures on a two-year-old girl pulled from the water at the beach when deputies arrived. The girl had been with her family at the time of the incident.


The girl was transported to a local hospital by Mercy Life Flight.


Sandoval-Ramos died on the morning of June 19, a later news release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.


Polk County Detectives are continuing the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
