The first-ever Perry Community Drop-Off Day on Saturday, May 5 was a success. According to Susie Moorhead, City of Perry Finance Officer, “Traffic was steady starting at 7:30 a.m.”

At approximately 10 a.m., two refuse trucks were already completely full. Those trucks were sent to the landfill, emptied and returned to the Pattee Park parking lot where they were filled again.

In all, 130 loads were dropped off by the noon ending time and the community response was overwhelmingly positive. Moorhead said, “It’s been nice. You know, we unload it for people and they really appreciate that.”

City Administrator Sven Peterson explained, “The turnout has been so good that we’re thinking of doing this again in the fall.”

If you were unable to deliver your unwanted items to the collection site, the City of Perry will also pick these items up at anytime throughout the year at an additional charge. Please call City Hall at 515-465-2481 to schedule a special pick-up.
