The Perry Fine Arts Series will present the Greater Des Moines Community Band at 2 p.m. on April 15 in the Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th St.

The Greater Des Moines Community Band is an ensemble of 65-plus voluntary musicians ages 16 to 80+ who love to share their lifetime love of music by performing concerts. They play on weekends at Merle Hay Mall, First Christian Church and retirement homes as well as performing in parades, at senior living centers and the Iowa State Fair.

The Greater Des Moines Community Band was established in October 1987 by Dr. Carroll Childs, who was then Supervisor of Music for the Des Moines Public Schools. Christa Miller, a member of the euphonium section, now serves at the director.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce provided a grant that helps to make this concert possible.

Perry Fine Arts concerts are free, though donations are accepted, and open to all. The Perry Performing Arts Center is handicapped accessible.
