The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on the 1300 block of 2nd street early Wednesday morning. According to 1st Assistant Chief Brian Eiteman, the call came in at 4:46 a.m. from the owner of the apartment.
The apartment residence is located on top of a building next to the Aspen Retirement Planning Services, Inc. business and nearby the Perry Grand 3 Theatres.
"There's a little bit of smoke up here still," Eiteman said. "We're going to pick everything else up and let it sit for a little bit and see what's going on."
The fire was located at the front apartment of the apartment complex.
"There's three apartments, there's a front apartment, a middle apartment and back apartment," Eiteman said. "It was taken right here in the front."
"The time the second truck arrived, we had water on line within a minute," Eiteman said. "We had it really good knocked out from outside, then I sent an interior attack team go in."
According to Eiteman, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
While on scene, Sgt. Aswegan arrested a female who had an outstanding Dallas County warrant, according to Perry police reports. The individual was arrested for probation violation and possession of prescription pills 4:58 a.m.
The Perry Chief will continue to update as more information is made available.
