The Perry Fine Arts Series will be presenting Bus Boys on March 11, at 2 p.m. in the Perry Performing Arts Center. The Bus Boys is a musical ensemble from Winona, Minnesota, comprised of three former school bus drivers (although one of them only lasted 2 weeks).
One by one, they realized that bus driving was not their true calling in life. So they did the obvious thing: they became an acoustic jam trio.
They all enjoyed music of The Grateful Dead, The Band, Bob Dylan, and the like, so they said, “Yes, we’ll play that kind of music.”
They also decided to mix in a substantial amount of bluegrass and folk-type music. A few original tunes have snuck in over the years. It has been distilled into a unique blend with their own twist on things.
Since 1997, the Bus Boys have been: Mark Christensen, guitar, lead and harmony vocals; Wayne Beezley, mandolin, big mandolin, lead and harmony vocals; Dedrick Benz, bass and harmony vocals.
Perry Fine Arts concerts are free, donations accepted, and open to all. The Perry Performing Arts Center is handicapped accessible.
