Perry Public Library will host Drake University Professor of Philosophy Timothy Knepper, along with Carol Spaulding Kruse and Bob Blanchard, for a book talk, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the large meeting room. A snow date has been set for Jan. 30.

The featured book is A Spectrum of Faith: Religions of the World in America’s Heartland, and this event is free and open to the public. The book is a joint work of The Comparison Project, The Drake Community Press (DCP), and the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMACC), with all proceeds supporting the DMACC food pantry. This is a pictorial glimpse into the diversity of faith in the Des Moines area. The collaborative work offers snapshots of worshipers from many regions peacefully co-existing in the heartland, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Each chapter is the story of one faith community, written by a student participant immersed in that group. The book sheds light on the surprising variety of faiths and sacred spaces in and around Des Moines.

Everyone is welcome to attend. No registration is needed.
