A water pipe leading into the Dallas County Courthouse has frozen, prompting the offices within to close, at least temporarily.

The courthouse currently does not have any water and the geothermal heating system is having a hard time keeping up and the building is cold as a result, according to Dallas County Operations Manager, Rob Tietz.

The Dallas County Recorder's Office will be closing for the rest of the day, the Treasurer's Office will be relocating its tax staff to the auto department, the building that hosts the drivers' license station, and the Clerk of Court's office is closing until noon, and re-evaluating at 1 p.m.

In the meantime, workers are attempting to heat up the pipes that are located in a crawl space in the Courthouse to get the water flowing into the building again.
