James Spiker of Granger has graduated from the MOPAR Career Automotive Program (CAP) at Des Moines Area Community College.
Spiker is now employed full-time as an automotive technician by his sponsoring dealership, Dewey Dodge in Ankeny. DMACC has established a partnership with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) to provide entry-level training for FCA dealership technicians. Spiker graduated from the 15th MOPAR Career Automotive Program at DMACC.
In this program, students spend half of their time at the community college learning the latest automotive technology on current production FCA vehicles and half of their time applying what they’ve learned at their sponsoring FCA dealership, said John Russell, MOPAR CAP Professor.
At the end of the two-year program, a student earns an Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology.
MOPAR is the parts, service and customer care organization within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The name derives from a combination of letters from the words MOtor and PARts.
