1. Eat Smart, Spend Smart
Sunday, July 30 from 1:30-3 p.m. at Forest Park Museum in Perry. Trying to cut down on food costs? Maybe it’s time to consider a more strategic approach to meal planning and shopping. This class will help you learn about the foods that give you the best taste and nutrition for your money. Participants will receive sample menus and grocery lists and practice writing delicious meal plans according to MyPlate principles. Class is taught by a registered dietitian. FREE. 2. Ice Cream Social
Sunday, July 30 from 5-7 p.m. at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, at the intersection of P58, Highway 44 and J Avenue. A free will offering will be received to support ongoing Panther Creek Youth programming costs and registration and travel expenses for the 2018 National Youth Conference in Colorado. The menu includes beefburgers, vegetables, chips, brownies, pie and homemade ice cream.
3. National Police Night Out
Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the Perry Police Department from 11-1 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. at Hy-Vee. Hy-Vee will be grilling up a free meal for police officers and staff from 11-1 p.m. at the station. They will also be hosting members of the Police Department from 5-7 p.m. at the store. This is a chance for the community to show their support as well.
