On Thursday, May 1, the official ribbon cutting of the new Willis Avenue Apartments took place in front of the building. Members who worked with the project as well as Perry representatives took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“We’re extremely appreciative and proud with the amenities and features,” Sr Mills, President of Bear Development told the crowd. “We think those are the differences makers where tenants don’t feel like tenants going to their apartment, but it feels like a home.”
The Willis Avenue apartments are currently at 96 percent capacity, according to Mills, with 38 units housed in the building.
One, two, and four bedrooms are offered in the facility. The building is three floors, accompanied by elevator access and an assigned storage unit for each owner. Amenities inside the apartment include a dishwasher, oven, microwave, bathtub, washer and dryer unit, as well as a refrigerator.
“We call them properties or units, but really we’re talking about homes,” Dave Jamison, Exectuive Director of Iowa Finance Authority said. “This is a home for someone; it’s a small word but it has a great meaning. It’s rewarding to be part of this and we’re glad to be here today.”
The Willis Avenue Apartments are run by Resident Manager, Renae Cole, with help from the Main Tech, Rick Corder. Tours can be made to the facility by Appointment Only, according to the Newbury Living website.
“We’re very happy to have you in town and I think we fulfilled a great need for affordable quality housing here,” Bob Wilson, Chamber Director said.
