Three individuals, Justin Dale Ray, 21, Carla Raye Bousman, 62, and Josie Raye Bousman, 20, have been arrested regarding the ongoing investigation of sixteen-year-old Sabrina Ray. The Perry Police Department held a press conference on Wednesday sharing details of the ongoing investigation.

Justin Dale Ray, son of the Rays, faces the following charges: one count of child endangerment resulting in a serious injury, a Class C felony, one count of child endangerment resulting in bodily injury, a Class D felony, and two counts of willful injury causing bodily, a Class D felony.

According to the Dallas County court documents, Justin, between the dates of April 15 and May 1, "'drop-kicked' Sabrina Lynn Ray down the basement staircase, causing her to land on the basement floor. Sabrina Lynn Ray suffered serious injury and was unable to walk, talk, eat or drink in her normal fasion following the act." 

Carla Raye Bousman, Sabrina’s Grandmother, was charged with three counts of aiding and abetting kidnapping 1st degree, Class A felonies, one count of aiding and abetting child endangerment resulting in death, a Class B felony, and one count of obstructing prosecution or defense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

Chief Vaughn could not comment on the type of obstruction charge made against evidence as the information is part of the ongoing investigation.

The Dallas County court documents describes the obstruction as follows: “the Defendant did knowingly, with intent to prevent the apprehension of or to obstruct the prosecution of another person, destroy, alter, conceal or disguise physical evidence which would be admissible in the trial of that case for a public defense.”

Josie Raye Bousman, niece of the Rays, was charged with three counts of aiding and abetting kidnapping first degree, Class A felonies, one count of aiding and abetting child endangerment resulting in death, a Class B felony.

According to a press release from the Perry Police Department, both “Justin and Carla were taken into custody in near Broadlawns Medical Center near Des Moines. Josie was taken into custody at a residence in Boone.”

In addition, both Marc and Misty Ray have been charged with three count each of kidnapping in the 1st degree.

The additional charges with the three individuals were made following further investigation, Chief Vaughn revealed.

“There were just a lot of follow up interviews that needed to be done,” Chief Vaughn said.

According to Chief Vaughn, both Josie and Carla were present when the report was initially made.

Sabrina’s autopsy has not been revealed and is still in the process.
