At around 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, the Perry Chamber kicked off the ninth annual Fireworks Drive for Perry’s Fourth of July celebration. Chamber Executive Director, Bob Wilson, estimated a total $9,000 made from Thursday’s activities, inching closer to the proposed goal of $15,000 Wilson announced at the Chamber Banquet on Tuesday.

Thursday’s activities included free coffee in the Hy-Vee parking lot to those who donated, a pie auction over the radio, donation buckets lined up on the streets for cars passing by, and finally an opportunity to donate in the Fareway parking lot.

For those who missed out on Thursday’s events, Perry’s Hy-Vee and Fareway will be participating in a round-up event for the Fireworks Drive until April 22.
