On Monday, March 6, the Perry City Council met in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building to discuss the agenda. The following items are highlights from Monday night’s meeting.


Approval to appoint John Wuebker to the Perry Waterworks Board of Trustees


A current member of the Perry Waterworks Board of Trustees will step down with a term ending on April 1, 2017. John Wuebker expressed interest in obtaining a spot on the Waterworks Board of Trustees and the council approved. The term will last six years.


“I look forward to working with the other members,” Wuebker said.


Mayor Jay Pattee thanks Wuebker for volunteering for the position.


“Personally, I think you will do a great job,” Pattee said.


John McGee approved for another term on Airport Commission


The council approved to reappoint John McGee to another term on the Airport Commission. McGee’s term will be finished on Marc 31. The new four-year term will extend from March 31, 2017 to March 31, 2021.


“I think John’s been doing a good job and it’s nice to have somebody along the Commission that’s a Pilot,” Pattee said.


City Administrator, Sven Peterson agreed with Pattee.


“He’s been a great asset to the Commission,” Peterson said.


Spring Clean Up dates will occur May 1, 2017 to May 3, 2017


The council approved to have this year’s dates for the Spring Clean Up run May 1, 2017 through May 3, 2017.


“We will not be picking up appliances,” Deputy Public Works Director, Josh Wuebker said.


Wuebker said there will an Appliance Clean Up Day in the next upcoming weeks. It will be free to bring appliance items out to the recycling, but there will be a $25 fee for the city to pick up the items.


Approval of 2017 Yard Waste Disposal Dates


Yard waste will be collected only on Wednesday, beginning April 5 to Nov. 15, 2017. According to the agenda notes, Willis Avenue will be bound to separate weeks.


“I think people are ready for it,” Council member, John Andorf said.
