Snap Fitness in Perry is breaking in their new location with an additional feature to the fitness center: “Fitness on Demand.”
Snap Fitness owners Shaun Welch and Cherie Welch introduced the new addition after their recent relocation. Co-owner, Cherie Welch, hopes the operating system will give participants a taste of a “city gym” for a cheaper price.
An extra room was created in the new location featuring floor-length windows and 800 sq. feet to maneuver. “Fitness on Demand,” the gym’s newest purchase is framed alongside the wall and is accessible through it’s touch-screen feature.
“It’s an awesome, awesome feature,” Welch said. “I feel like it helps us stay competitive outside of the metro.”
The device includes an assortment of 200 pre-programmed workouts including well-known “P90X” and “Insanity” classes. The separate room is multi-purpose, giving members a space to stretch, use newly purchased cycling machines or cool down after a workout.
“I’m getting good feedback from it so it’s definitely a nice feature to be able to offer,” Welch said.
Welch hopes the room has allowed members to feel comfortable during their workouts, ridding any presence of intimidation to those who are brand new to facility. The Snap Fitness Facebook account recently received a response from a member expressing gratitude for the room, explaining that the area made her feel comfortable.
“Even if you’re not doing a class, this room is still getting utilized,” Welch said.
Currently, Fitness on Demand offers classes ranging from 20 to 60 minutes. The Perry location currently does not have group classes, but is in the works of designating a time in the future for potential classes to meet.
“So eventually we will probably set some class times and keep it scheduled so that maybe more people will come in and join certain times,” Welch said.
Welch believes group classes allow patrons to work hard, often meet friends or get inspired by the activity.
“You push yourself harder when you’re around other people,” Welch said.
Whether gym members are looking for a place to cool down after a workout or are interested in trying out the new machine, the Fitness on Demand room continues to stay used.
The Snap Fitness gym’s new location is 509 1st Ave. in Perry. Snap Fitness is always open with access from a membership key-fob, enabling users to obtain access to any Snap Fitness club in the country.
“We’re just really excited to be in the new location,” Welch said.
In the future, Welch anticipates more growth from the gym, mentioning potential outdoor classes.
“We’re excited about all of the changes that will be happening,” Welch said.
