BOONE - Local railroad historian and rail fan Doug Nebbe of Ogden will present “Depots of Iowa” Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the exhibit area of the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and History Center. The museum is located at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad - 225 10th Street in Boone.

Doug will focus on several depots in particular, the Chicago and Northwestern at Ogden, the Minneapolis and St. Louis (M&St.L) also at Ogden, and the Berkley, Iowa (M&St.L) depots. Doug spent many years collecting never-before-seen rare photos and unknown history on these local depots. Be sure to attend this free program!

Nebbe was born in Boone County in 1943 and has lived in Ogden most of his life. He grew up near the Chicago and Northwestern railroad tracks, with only a pasture separating his house and the tracks, so he had an interest in trains from an early age.

He bought his first Railroad magazine at the age of 12 and was hooked.

Doug’s main railroad history interests are all lines in Boone County, the Fort Dodge, Des Moines & Southern and the Minneapolis and St. Louis mud line.
