On Tuesday, the Perry Police Department arrested the following persons after a pursuit that ultimately ended in Minburn.

Hayley Sue Rote, 21, and Paloma Perez, 19, were both charged with Theft in the First Degree (Class C Felony), Eluding (Class D Felony), and Accessory After the Fact (Aggravated Misdemeanor).

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a red 2016 Toyota Camry in the area of West Third and Warford. The vehicle slowed and stopped but as the officer began to approach the car it fled and attempted to elude the officer. The pursuit traversed through the south end of Perry and then south on P58. The vehicle then turned east on 195th St . Before it turned east on County Rd F31 the suspect vehicle left the road briefly on 195th but the driver was able to drive out of ditch. The pursuit continued east on F31 and into the city limits of Minburn. Deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office caught up with the pursuit to assist. The suspect vehicle then failed to negotiate a curve at Walnut and First Street and entered a field where it became stuck.

Both subjects were then taken into custody. It was then discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Des Moines in December. Rote had been operating the vehicle at the time it stopped. No injuries were reported to either the suspects or officers. The subjects were transported to the Perry Police Department for processing and then later transferred to the Dallas County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
